5 heat-shrink tubing failures—and how to prevent them.

Avoid incomplete recovery, splitting, trapped air, excessive longitudinal change and damaged substrates.

Most heat-shrink failures begin before the heat gun is switched on.

The common causes are choosing the wrong supplied or recovered diameter, uneven heating, exceeding the substrate temperature limit, ignoring longitudinal change and expecting a non-adhesive tube to seal. Validate the tubing, substrate and installation process together.
